Roscoe Village Engagement Session | Emily + Steve

It’s five o’clock somewhere—and it’s the perfect excuse to share this beer-loving duo’s engagement photos in Roscoe Village! When a couple contacts me about an offbeat engagement session, there’s a pretty good chance I’m in! I love capturing couples authentically in their elements, and this session was so unique to Emily and Steve.

There are a handful of things that make their world go ‘round: a good beer, their rescue pup, Avery, and their ‘hood, Roscoe Village. So, it only made sense to pack all three into their engagement session together. I had a blast capturing their smiles in between sips of IPAs and smooches beneath the ‘L’ Tracks. Their pup Avery loved the limelight and excitedly (and literally) pulled them around the neighborhood. This action-packed, laughter-inducing couple’s session was the perfect way to take a break from wedding planning and enjoy some quality time together.

Fun fact: Emily happens to be my best friend’s li’l sister! I love this family, and I still have to pinch myself that I get to capture Emily and Steve’s big day! I cannot wait to cheers beers and boogie down on the dance floor at @parsonschicken next September with these two. 🍻 I am counting down the days!

A Wedding at Parson’s Chicken & Fish?!

Want A Uniquely Personalized Engagement Session?

Here are a few unique places in Chicago for engagement pictures:

Arcade

Take it back to a retro arcade. You’d be surprised just how romantic a few rounds of Skee-Ball, Pacman, and pinball can be! The lights offer a kind of vintage-retro vibe that I love! You might consider Emporium Wicker Park, Logan Arcade, or one of Chicago’s many bar arcades. In my opinion, the more original, the better.

Craft Brewery

If you’re looking for a brewery vibe, Goose Island Beer Company has some pretty cool brick and industrial-styled backdrops we can use as well as several interesting murals inside and out. Forbidden Root also has a beautiful design and interesting spaces. Or, let me know your favorite hangout, and we can head there!

Bowling Alley

Kings Dining & Entertainment Lincoln Park features a dazzling disco ball and plush lounge areas that lend well to fun photos! If you love to bowl, there are all kinds of cute poses and in-action shots we can get during your bowling alley engagement session. Lucky Strike Downtown Chicago also has a really interesting design with eclectic art work and great food and drinks. This location also offers ping pong, billiards, an arcade, and even a shooting range if you want to add some variety to your session.

Art Institute of Chicago

As long as we don’t use flash photography or extra equipment, the Art Institute of Chicago can be a really interesting place for a photoshoot, especially if you want some artistic, editorial compositions. The Art Institute works well for session that have a more elevated, luxe look, so feel free to dress up and get your fashion on!

Navy Pier

Not only does the pier itself offer plenty of photo opportunities, but you could also hop on a Water Taxi or try to win a prize at the Pier Park and catch the views from the Centennial Wheel. There’s tons to do and see at this lively iconic Chicago site.

Millennium Park

This beautiful green space has a front-row view of the city all around it. Even better, Cloud Gate (aptly nicknamed “The Bean”) is a uniquely-shaped reflective art piece that allows us to get panoramic snapshot of the city—the entire skyline fits inside “the bean!”

Skydeck Chicago

This Chicago museum and thrillingly high, transparent observation deck offer endless photo opportunities. Whether you’re visitors or proud Chicagoans, this interactive attraction will pique your curiosity. (Don’t forget to stop at the Urban Playground, which features an extra-large Chicago-style hotdog!
