Garfield Park Conservatory Proposal – Chicago, IL – Kruti + Premal

Dec 17

Filed in: Proposal

‘Tis the season for proposals, my favorite season of all (I know, I know, I say this about every season). Did you know that 40% of couples get engaged between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve? 40%! It seems that this time of the year is a little extra magical, with something extra in the air, and the perfect time to add a celebration to cause .

Premal reached out to me asking if I was available that weekend to capture a proposal at the Garfield Park Conservatory.  I just so happened to be free, and we quickly hopped on a call to work out a plan.  I love chatting with the guys planning on proposing. They’re so excited and nervous and it always makes me smile how much they care to put thought and effort and romance into a moment in their relationship they will never forget. With the help of her best friend, Premal had a beautiful plan in place for Kruti – one that was a long time in the making.

The Proposal

The plan changed several times over (funny how that happens), but Kruti’s Mom’s birthday was this weekend and Premal and Kruti flew in to celebrate on Friday. Premal “had to fly back early” (pysch!), and wasn’t able to make a birthday lunch on Sunday for Kruti’s Mom. The first stop was the Garfield Park Conservatory. As we anxiously awaited the arrival of Kruti, Premal had the biggest smile on his face.  I always smile at how nervous my guys are before popping the question. I always remind them “she’s not going to say no!“.

Kruti arrived and her and her family began walking around the gorgeous space.  With Premal and his family secretly hidden, he casually walked over to Kruti and grabbed her hands. I snapped away from across the room.  He got down on one knee and Kruti’s hand rushed up to cover her mouth in awe. I saw a few heads shakes and knew it was a done deal. E N G A G E D !

The Celebrating

The families joined, Mom’s hugged, and all of the visitors cheered (someone even got it on video, gosh, I just love people!).  It was truly a wonderful moment, and one these two will never forget. We spent a little bit more time celebrating with some intimate portraits around the space.  My job was so easy because these two couldn’t wipe the smiles off of their faces if they tried!
