The Walden Chicago Wedding | Katy & Travis

These two! At one point during this wedding, I looked at my darling couple and said, “You know, I’ve captured a lot of weddings as a photographer, and I have never seen anyone look at their bride quite like you do, Travis!” And you won’t have to scroll far to catch that sparkle I’m talking about. These two enjoyed their day to the fullest at Walden Chicago. Rather than getting caught up in the details (which were still flawless, by the way), they spent their day laughing, twirling, and genuinely savoring it all. They didn’t have to do a thing other than be themselves for the camera to love them! (I had such a hard time choosing my favorites.)

Relish the Moment

Katy and Travis’ wedding was pure bliss and a stunning day. Like many weddings this season, we got some good luck rain in the morning. Then, the sun decided to come out and play in time for portraits. After a few finishing touches from the @bridalartistryteam and a quick hop into her dress, Katy was an absolute VISION.

After the finishing touches, Katy and Travis shared a private first look where they exchanged vows, gifts, and a few tears. The moment melted my heart, and I hope they cherish these photos every time they look at them. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing like meeting each other across the aisle. But often, quiet, intentional moments like this seem to stick in our memories the most. Even if you choose not to do a first look, carve out some time during the day when it’s just the two of you so you can catch a breath (or a kiss). It’s nice to be able to take it all in together without all eyes on you.

The rest of the day was filled with portraits at the Wrigley Building, a gorgeous and touching ceremony at the Walden, and the perfect summertime cocktail hour, followed by touching speeches and a killer dance floor—we were all kept busy by the talented @djdjones!

About the Venue | Walden Chicago

I can’t recommend this venue enough as far as photos go. The natural light was pure perfection for capturing gorgeous ceremony photos. If you want great ceremony photos—that is to say, photos that vividly reflect all the emotions and details—a venue with natural light is always a plus!

Walden is a gorgeous blank-slate event venue located in West Town with full-service planning and coordination. Couples can select from customizable packages: chef-curated catering, bar service, rentals, amenities, and more. With their help, you can design the space your way, select your entertainment, and choose the setup and dining experience that best fits your vision. The experienced team is phenomenal at guiding you through the process from booking to newlywed sendoff at the end of the day.

If you’re doing your ceremony and reception here, most couples typically have their ceremony on the second floor in the elongated room for a true “walk-down-the-aisle” experience. The wood floors, exposed brick, wall sconces, and walls of windows add extra charm. The white wall at the head of the room offers the perfect focal point for your ceremony setup.

It’s All in the Details at Walden Chicago

The first floor showcases a spacious reception hall with a beautiful wooden bowstring truss ceiling. The surrounding windows are installed with shades for privacy or light control. On one side, the deep green wainscoting wall is amazing for photos.

Amenities at Walden Chicago include a bridal suite, built-in bars, an elevator, storage available the week before your event, a commercial kitchen, a nursing room, A/V capabilities and equipment, and more.

All that to say, Walden’s hospitality & events team makes everything as easy and fun as possible so you can enjoy every minute to the fullest, just like Katy and Travis. What an absolutely idyllic day for the sweetest dang couple!
