New Years Eve in Chicago. A day to celebrate the year behind you, and jump into the fresh year ahead of you – what better a day than this one to also get married. Kayla and Mike certainly had the best idea when they decided to have their New Years Even Chicago Elopement happen in 2020.
⠀
Originally, we were supposed to be clinking glasses and gettin married at Room 1520 on New Year’s Eve. Instead, due to restrictions and uncertainties from covid, Mike and Kayla decided to save that moment for 2021. Instead, they gathered with their closest family and friends at a gorgeous @airbnb, made a pit stop at City Hall, and spent the evening ringing in the New Year with new rings on their fingers and joy in their hearts for their New Years Eve Chicago Elopement.
⠀
The day was beautiful. Cold, yes, but I could literally feel the warmth radiating off of Kayla and Mike’s families as they bundled together outside of City Hall to cheer them on as they walked out of the building. ⠀
⠀
The afternoon was perfect. An incredible way to look back at all they’ve overcome in 2020 and all they have to look forward to in 2021 – including an anniversary bash on New Year’s Eve that is sure to be unforgettable (how lucky am I that I get to capture it!). I looked around several times in the few hours I was with them today and thought of how lucky I was to be one of the few getting to play a part in their big day, getting to capture a chapter of their story. Mike and Kayla, it was beyond an honor to tag along your adventure, your New Years Eve Chicago Elopement.
⠀
Congratulations you guys, I definitely raised a glass of champagne on New Years Eve on my couch in my sweats with the baby monitor nearby to celebrate from afar!⠀
