Kristen and Catherine eloped in mid-December with one of the most thoughtful and intimate celebrations I’ve ever been lucky enough to be a part of. This Christmas-loving duo held a warm and inviting elopement ceremony with their families in a suite at Trump Tower Chicago, which was the perfect setting for their big day.
Holiday Elopement at Trump Tower Chicago
At this time of year, seasonal splendor covers the city from top to bottom, and the lights sparkled extra against the rain and overcast skies. The brides started with a breathtaking first look at the Riverwalk and spent an hour capturing the magic of downtown during December. These ladies were champs braving the rain that hit us hard during portraits, embracing the romance of the moment and focusing solely on each other. Kristin and Catherine were prepared with clear bubble umbrellas to keep them dry and create unforgettable moments. Their special day and the beauty of it all seriously shined brighter than a romantic holiday movie. Kristen and Catherine are both naturals in front of the camera—and by that, I mean they were so enthralled with each other and savoring every moment that I was able to document the genuine connection between them, just as it should be.
Tips for Creating a Memorable Experience
After portraits outside and family photos, we headed to their suite for the main event—their intimate ceremony. The smell of a fresh-cut evergreen welcomed guests into the room and set the festive mood. It was DIVINE! When crafting an experience, all of the senses come into play, and people often underestimate the power of scent. You don’t want to overpower the room with scented candles or synthetic scents, but fresh-cut flowers, evergreen, or even a subtle smoky fireplace can enhance the experience even more. Plus, memories are often tied to scents. I imagine a hint of evergreen will always take Kristen and Catherine back to their wedding day.
The soft glow of romantic candles completely transformed the suite into the intimate gathering they envisioned. They elevated the theme with understated pops of red and green, including ice cubes filled with cranberries, evergreen wreaths, and poinsettias as the focal point of the ceremony space. This was the perfect holiday elopement to close out the year and welcome in the Christmas season.
You don’t have to pull out all the extras and hire various vendors to make your wedding experience memorable. Kristen and Catherine kept things simple with a DIY elopement, but the location, lighting, and greenery set the tone for a memorable ceremony and celebration.
Clapping Loud for All to Hear
The panoramic views of Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan were the only competition for both of these beauties as their families watched them share the most heartfelt vows and commitments. The ceremony concluded with a twist on a classic Christmas movie line: “The best way to spread marriage cheer is clapping loud for all to hear!”
Post celebratory kiss, the couple kicked their party off with a shot of Malort in true Chicagoan fashion. Capturing guests’ faces post-shot was the perfect ending to my time with this power couple.
I couldn’t be happier for Kristen and Catherine. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year! 🎄Congratulations to the happy couple!
