Have you ever considered hosting a wedding at a fun local venue like Parson’s Chicken Chicago? After seeing this wedding, you just might change your mind! Emily is my best friend’s little sister. I met Claire in college (my ΑΞΔ SISTAH! ❤️☀️), and she’s been stuck with me ever since. I was thrilled that Emily and Steve picked me to capture their laid-back, epically fun day that started with seal stretches and ended with a beer on the dance floor.
A Love Story for the Books
The infectious joy and energy this couple gives off goes unmatched. Emily is a PT, and Steve is a pediatric oncology nurse, so you can already guess these two have huge hearts. When you put them together, magic happens. These medical superheroes do occasionally take time off to travel together, check off the national parks, hike with their rescue pup, and try out new breweries. In fact, these summit chasers got engaged on a road trip to beautiful Asheville, North Carolina, in full view of the Smoky Mountains. (And yes, Avery pup got to witness the special moment—could their story be any sweeter?!)
Picking Parson’s Chicken Chicago
Once they returned home from that blissful proposal trip, I had the honor of photographing their laughter-filled Roscoe Village brewery engagement session, too! These two like to do things a little unconventionally. Their top wedding priority was to have fun and celebrate with the people most important to them. They chose Parson’s Chicken Chicago because they both wanted a local wedding, but not necessarily at a traditional venue. Parson’s gives off cute red-and-white backyard picnic vibes, and the venue does a fabulous job of elevating the theme for picture-perfect weddings and events.
Play Up Your Unique Wedding Venue
Whatever wedding day vision I conjured up in my mind’s eye, the real deal blew it all out of the water. I was so impressed with all the fun yet chic touches—like Emily’s gorgeous bridal gown and cute sneakers. It all blended seamlessly, and the aesthetic fit Emily and Steve’s personality so well. They love to have fun and enjoy quality time with those they love, so this casual and intimate setting was perfect, yet it still leveled up for the special occasion.
Let’s talk color. The colors for this end-of-summer wedding were just phenomenal. The hues Emily and Steve picked beautifully complemented each other and took the venue up a notch. Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that his tie matches her bouquet? Incredible! If you love color, I encourage you to play around with it—their color palette photographed beautifully and added a playful touch to their portraits.
Emily and Steve envisioned an outdoor ceremony on Parson’s tree-studded patio, but the light rain put a question mark on that. Thankfully, the potential downpour held off for them to have their epic moment beneath the floral arch with her brother-in-law officiating. Tears were shed, rings were placed, and a first-kiss dip sealed the deal! Then, it was time to celebrate.
Consider a Unique Chicago Venue for Your Wedding Day
The venue was so dang unique and welcoming, and of course, the chicken and family-style sides were mouthwatering. As usual, Parson’s famous Negroni slushies were a hit for those who like them (I know, it’s one of those love-it-or-hate-it drinks—but they have other delicious options, too!) The champagne flowed, the rain backed off for portraits, and plans went off without a hitch. Ultimately, the newlyweds had the time of their lives with those they love. The dance floor stayed busy all night long, and I truly didn’t want the night to end. This Parson’s Chicken & Fish wedding is the perfect example of how couples can think outside the box for a fun and aesthetic wedding that fits their style and personality.
