A Snowy Chicago

This is the only request I received from Jake and Kendal – they wanted snow. Jake reached out to me back in October looking for engagement photos and the one thing he stressed was how important having a snowy engagement session was to these two.  With a late July wedding in Texas, they loved the idea of capturing two completely different seasons – and their new home together, Chicago.  We put together a plan, and waited on the weather…and waited, and waited. With a somewhat mild winter this year in Chicago, we haven’t seen much snow.

Where It All Began

Jake and Kendal met while studying at the same college in Texas. Kendal worked in a lab with a few of Jake’s friends and the two hit it off at a get-together.  Jake admits to trying to track her down (or “stalk” as Kendal calls it) the next day, and after 3 passes, he finally got her number. The rest is history. These two science loving smarties (Kendal is currently pursuing her MDPHD, and Jake is a Postdoctoral Researcher – both at Northwestern) are a perfect match for each other.

Let is Snow, Let is Snow, Let it Snow

Jake used his stalking skills (kidding, Jake!) to track the weather forecast and as soon as he saw flurries reached out. We had our session along the Chicago River in the heart of the city and it couldn’t have been prettier with the snow falling and the soft blue and gray hues of the city as our backdrop. Jake and Kendal are the perfect combination of brains, beauty, and bubbly personalities. They were up for just about anything, and I loved getting to capture these two interacting with each other.  Their relationship seemed to come so natural and they had each other laughing the entire morning.  While the cold had our fingers freezing by the end of the session, our hearts were so warm.
