There are some clients that start out as strangers, and quickly turn into sweet friends. John and Maura are one of those types of clients, and their intimate Cheney Mansion wedding was an absolute dream.

I met them at the West Loop Wedding Walk in 2019 as I was tearing down my booth and I spent 20 minutes laughing with them and showing them how fun photos can be with a mini session.⁠⁠

Fast forward to their breathtaking Cheney Mansion wedding and my heart constantly being tugged on. There was so much love surrounding them and happiness you could FEEL in the air from family members and friends so excited to celebrate one of the very best couples. ⁠⁠

The couple got ready in separate apartments of a gorgeous Oak Park airbnb . I cherish the excitement that builds in the air during the getting ready portion of the day. Everyone was bustling around, steaming dresses, getting glammed up, braiding hair, and shooting looks of pure joy towards the bride. The guys could be heard laughing incessantly from above.

The ceremony was held outside on the Cheney Mansion lawn. Clean white chairs were decorated with colorful Summer dresses and well ironed slacks. Sunglasses were the accessory of the day. John sauntered down the aisle with a huge grin on his face and couldn’t make it a step or two without another guest stopping him for a hug. Maura’s brother walked her down the aisle and sister officiated the ceremony. The inclusion of family was STRONG at this wedding. You could feel the bond this couple’s siblings had towards one another and it brought a tenderness to the day that I can’t quite describe.

They had a beautiful Summer evening and the mansion all to themselves for delicious food stations and a donut wall, plenty of bubbly and “Mo-Garitas” being poured, and a dance floor under the lights that was packed from the moment it opened.⁠⁠

This Cheney Mansion weddings, was one of those nights where I left and thought to myself, this is my job. To get let into the most intimate parts of a couples day, and celebrate them like friends, not just clients. ⁠⁠
