My baby girl is 1. Well, actually she’s 13 months! We celebrated with the most magical “Here Comes the One”, sunshine themed first birthday party at our home in Lombard, Illinois with our close families. We were planning on a small gathering with just the grandparents, but thanks to science, by April 27th, almost every single member of our families was vaccinated. Cheers to scientists, and sunshine themed first birthday parties!
You don’t typically see a whole lot of first birthday content on my blog, but I actually adore event photography and capturing little ones’ birthdays. It was unbelievably special to not only plan, craft, and create all of the decor for Kate’s party, but to also get to document it! My passion for being creative definitely runs deeper than just when there’s a camera in my hands and I loved getting to put so many special touches on a big day for my little girl.
THE DRESS: I found this sunshine and rainbow fabric and initially planned on making 8 napkins when I thought we were having a smaller get together. The more I saw the fabric, the more I thought about how perfect it would be on a dress. I scoured the internet for a pattern, found this one that was just PERFECT, and got to work on my sewing machine. MANY MANY hours and a failed dress later, I had the prettiest little party dress for Kate. And some matching accessories too!

THE BALLOONS: I gave it my best Bubbly Events Chicago effort, and tried my hand at a balloon arch. I LOVED IT! There are some great tik tok videos out there to help us newbies out.
